Posyantek Semangat Baru Becomes a Centre for Appropriate Technology Innovation in Nagari Tapi Selo
The Appropriate Technology Service Post (Posyantek) Semangat Baru in Nagari Tapi Selo continues to demonstrate its existence as one of the most active and innovative Posyantek in Tanah Datar Regency. Although it was founded in 2019, Posyantek Semangat Baru has consistently remained a centre for Appropriate Technology (TTG) services and development for the community. The existence of this Posyantek is considered to assist the development of Nagari Tapi Selo, particularly in supporting the agricultural sector, which is the main livelihood of the community. This standing led Posyantek Semangat Baru Tapi Selo to represent Tanah Datar Regency in the final round of the West Sumatra Province Level Appropriate Technology Innovation Competition in 2026. The Wali Nagari of Tapi Selo, Genta Maulana Akbar, said that since its establishment in 2019, Posyantek Semangat Baru has received awards several times at the West Sumatra Provincial level. Posyantek Semangat Baru provides various supporting facilities, such as a secretariat, meeting rooms, and a reading corner. Not only focused on services, this Posyantek also actively develops various technological innovations using the ATM method (Observe, Imitate, and Modify). Various technology products produced are tailored to the needs of the local community, including a corn sheller, a cassava slicer, a grass chopper, an anaerobic composter, a coconut climbing tool, a citronella distillation apparatus, a betel nut splitter, a betel nut picker, and a coconut husk opener. He also expressed gratitude for the continuous support provided by the regional government for the sustainability of the Posyantek. ‘Alhamdulillah, support from the government and also from the Nagari Government continues to flow. Therefore, every year we budget funds through village expenditure to support this Posyantek. This year we hope Posyantek Semangat Baru can achieve success,’ he said during the assessment by the provincial team on Tuesday (9/6). Meanwhile, the Head of the Community and Village Empowerment Service (PMD) of West Sumatra Province, Yozarwardi, expressed appreciation for the commitment of Posyantek Semangat Baru, which remains active and continues to innovate. ‘This shows commitment and hard work in utilising appropriate technology. Posyantek is a technology service platform that has a strategic role as a bridge between innovation and the community. It is the community who will test how effective the technology is,’ he said. He also stressed that the Posyantek competition is not merely to find a winner, but is a means of evaluation as well as learning for other Posyantek. ‘Our hope, of course, is that services to the community will improve and the resulting innovations will be more directed at the local potential of the nagari so that they are truly beneficial to the community,’ he added. On the same occasion, the Regent of Tanah Datar, represented by the Acting Assistant III of the Tanah Datar Regional Secretariat, Dedi Triwidono, also conveyed his appreciation for the existence of Posyantek Semangat Baru. ‘As the name suggests, this Posyantek brings a new spirit. This place is a platform for farmers to discuss the problems they face and find solutions. This Posyantek also receives full support from the regional government, sub-district, to the nagari,’ he said. Dedi expressed hope that, with various innovations and continuing support, Posyantek Semangat Baru will be able to become a driving force for the development of appropriate technology based on local potential to improve the welfare of the people of Nagari Tapi Selo.
