Post-Sumatra Disaster, Government Records Construction of 19,312 Temporary Housing Units
JAKARTA - The Head of the Indonesian Government’s Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, revealed that as of 12 May 2026, 19,312 temporary housing units (huntara) have been built out of a total target of 20,338 units.
“Temporary housing or huntara, based on data from the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) as of 12 May 2026, 19,312 units have been completed out of the total target of 20,338 units,” said Qodari at his office in Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Meanwhile, the construction of permanent housing (huntap) is still underway in three affected provinces.
The total planned construction of huntap reaches 39,335 units, supported by several parties, including BNPB, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (Kementerian PUPR), Kadin, Polri, Baznas, the Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam), and Tara Funds.
In addition to housing construction, the government is also distributing financial assistance to affected residents.
One of them is through temporary housing funds (Dana Tunggu Hunian or DTH).
Each family head receives Rp 600,000 per month, disbursed in a lump sum for three months, resulting in a total assistance of Rp 1.8 million per family.
The government is also providing assistance for repairing damaged houses to 31,007 units.
18,335 lightly damaged houses receive Rp 15 million per unit, while 12,672 moderately damaged houses receive Rp 30 million per unit.
The total assistance disbursed reaches Rp 655 billion.
In addition, the government records the realisation of assistance for housing contents at Rp 192 billion, livelihood guarantee assistance at Rp 347 billion, and economic stimulus at Rp 320 billion.
The total disbursement of these three types of assistance exceeds Rp 860 billion.
“The total realisation of these three supports reaches more than Rp 860 billion,” said Qodari.
The government also states that the recovery of infrastructure and basic services in the affected areas is still ongoing.
