The reopening of the road section was marked by the lifting of the blockade by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi. The reopening of road access was welcomed with joy by local residents and road users passing through.

On that occasion, Luthfi stated that the Semarang-Godong road section has a very important role as it serves as the main route connecting economic activities, logistics distribution, and public mobility.

During the closure of the route, residents were forced to take alternative routes that were considerably longer.

“It connects Semarang, Demak, Purwodadi. So it is very important indeed, that is why I asked for it to be completed quickly. The target was to finish it seven days before Eid, and it turned out we could complete it,” explained Luthfi in a written statement on Friday (13 March 2026).

In addition to reopening the road, Luthfi also called on the Grobogan and Demak District Governments and relevant stakeholders to maintain the river embankment, including through tree planting and routine maintenance.

“Maintain the embankment, plant trees around it, and also the community should not litter indiscriminately,” he urged.

The enthusiasm of residents was visible when Ahmad Luthfi and his entourage arrived at the location. Warm greetings and words of gratitude were immediately expressed by residents who had been waiting.

Seeing the welcome, Luthfi approached the residents. The atmosphere became emotional. Several residents appeared distraught whilst expressing their thanks, with some even shedding tears.

Luthfi then calmed the residents with jokes, embraced them, and granted requests for photographs together.

“Are you happy? Hopefully there will be no more floods. Happy fasting, Eid is coming soon, may everyone be blessed,” he said.

Meanwhile, residents of Tinanding Village, Godong District, affected by the embankment breach on 15 February 2026, enthusiastically welcomed the reopening of the road and river embankment operations.

From early morning, residents had gathered at the location after hearing that the Central Java Governor would visit and officially reopen the Semarang-Godong road section.

“Thank God it is done, traffic flows smoothly. No need to take long detours anymore,” said one motorcycle rider.

On the other hand, Tinanding resident Yanti also expressed relief after repairs to the embankment and road at the location were completed.

“Calm and relieved. No longer afraid of floods. When it breached yesterday, the water immediately entered the village and homes,” said Yanti.
