'Post FC beats 'SCTV' 4-3

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Post's team -- the Post FC -- edged out SCTV on Tuesday in a soccer competition held in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of Kompas daily, beating the television hopefuls 4-3 on penalties.

Both teams were locked 1-1 after 70 minutes of regular time, which saw SCTV reduced to 10 men in the second half.

It took the Post FC 45 minutes to pull level after SCTV opened the scoring in the 20th minute.

The penalty shoot-out saw the Post FC miss two penalties, before last man up Ridwan Ilhamsyah settled the issue to the cheers of his teammates.

In the second round of the competition to be played on Sunday, the Post FC will meet Pos Kota.

Teams from the print and electronic media and several embassies join the annual tournament, which is held at Simprug playing fields in South Jakarta. (jun)
