Post-Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah: Basic Commodity Prices Stabilise at Klaten's Gedhe Market
Prices for several basic commodities have stabilised at the Gedhe Market in Klaten, with supplies remaining secure following the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah celebrations.
According to monitoring at the semi-modern traditional market on Wednesday (3/6), most staple prices remained steady, with the exception of chillies and shallots, which experienced fluctuations. The price of bird’s eye chilli this week was recorded at Rp60,000 per kilogram, a decrease of Rp5,000, whereas the price of shallots rose from Rp42,000 to Rp45,000 per kg.
Slamet, a meat trader, noted that meat prices remain stable, with chicken priced at Rp32,000 per kg and beef at Rp130,000 per kg. Similarly, the price of chicken eggs stood at Rp24,000 per kg, a rate that has persisted since last month. Other staples including medium-grade rice were priced at Rp13,500 per kg, bulk granulated sugar at Rp17,500 per kg, and cooking oil at Rp15,700 per litre.
The Head of Klaten’s Gedhe Market, Andarwanto, confirmed that basic commodity prices are stable following the Eid al-Adha festivities and that supplies are secure. “Based on our team’s monitoring, prices in this market are still stable. In fact, chilli prices are now starting to decline,” he stated.
In a related development, the Sleman Regency Government has ensured that the prices and availability of essential goods remain relatively stable leading up to the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah period. Meanwhile, trends in the Gedhe Market indicate a downward trajectory for certain goods in the two weeks following the 2026 Eid celebrations, with supply chains for the community remaining smooth and uninterrupted.
