Jakarta — The Acceleration Task Force for Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) for Post-Disaster Sumatra has announced that it has distributed funds totalling IDR 528.76 billion for the repair of homes damaged by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces.

Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Head of the Satgas PRR for Post-Disaster Sumatra, stated that the assistance is provided directly to homeowners as stimulus funds to enable the community to repair their homes independently and rebuild their lives following the disaster.

He explained that survivors whose homes sustained minor damage receive assistance of IDR 15 million, whilst homes with moderate damage receive IDR 30 million.

“For homes with severe damage or loss, temporary shelters are being prepared. Residents can also stay with family members or rent accommodation and receive housing assistance funds of IDR 600,000 per month for three months,” Tito said in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Based on Satgas PRR data as of 11 March 2026, housing repair assistance that has been distributed reached 25,076 units of homes with minor and moderate damage across the three affected provinces with a total value of IDR 528.76 billion.

In Aceh province, assistance has reached 12,856 units of homes with minor damage and 9,065 units with moderate damage, totalling IDR 464.79 billion.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, assistance has been distributed to 1,234 homes with minor damage and 735 homes with moderate damage, valued at IDR 40.56 billion.

In West Sumatra, assistance was given to 811 homes with minor damage and 375 homes with moderate damage, totalling IDR 23.41 billion.

According to Tito, the distribution process is conducted by name and address after verification by regional government authorities. Verified beneficiary data is then submitted to the Satgas PRR through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for processing and distribution to the community.

Therefore, he emphasised the importance of regional government’s role in accelerating the data collection process so that assistance can be quickly received by eligible residents.

“This is what I am requesting from regional leaders, district heads and mayors, to establish small task forces for data collection so that assistance can be promptly distributed to the community,” he said.

Beyond housing repair assistance, the government is also ensuring that the basic needs of affected communities remain met during the recovery period. Through the Ministry of Social Affairs, the government distributes living assistance (Jadup) to affected communities to support them in meeting daily needs during the recovery period.

Based on data from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the living assistance programme is currently being processed for 37 regencies/cities across the three affected provinces. The assistance is provided at IDR 15,000 per person daily for three months or 90 days.

Synchronised data shows there are 175,211 individuals from 47,686 household heads eligible to receive living assistance, with a total budget reaching IDR 236.53 billion.

The majority of recipients are in Aceh province with 110,714 individuals and assistance valued at approximately IDR 149.46 billion. In North Sumatra, assistance reaches 51,301 individuals valued at approximately IDR 69.25 billion, whilst in West Sumatra, assistance is provided to 13,196 individuals valued at approximately IDR 17.81 billion.

The living assistance distribution process commenced on 14 February 2026 in several affected areas, including Central Aceh Regency, Bener Meriah Regency, Padang Sidempuan City, and Padang Panjang City.

The combination of housing repair assistance and living assistance forms an important part of the government’s strategy to ensure that affected communities not only have adequate housing restored, but also have support to meet their basic needs during the post-disaster recovery period.
