Post-Disaster, Bireuen Residents Receive Permanent Housing Assistance
The distribution of infrastructure rehabilitation assistance, in the form of funding for eight permanent housing units for disaster victims in Bireuen, Aceh, was officially carried out on Monday (10/8). The handover of humanitarian funds totalling Rp660 million took place during a public study session at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta.
The recovery programme is focused on providing adequate housing to accelerate the post-disaster transition phase for affected communities in the target area.
The physical infrastructure funding is the result of cooperation between the financial sector and a philanthropic institution, namely Permata Bank Syariah and DT Peduli. The symbolic handover of assistance documents was witnessed directly by religious figure KH Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym) along with the congregation present.
This institutional collaboration is designed to convert public social funds into functional buildings capable of ensuring the safety of beneficiary families.
Group Head of Sharia Business Unit at Permata Bank, Muhammed Pinto, stated that the provision of permanent housing facilities reflects corporate concern for meeting the basic infrastructure needs of civil society.
“We project these eight housing units as an initial foundation for Bireuen residents to independently resume their social and economic activities,” Pinto said.
He added that the realisation of this financing programme demonstrates the bank’s commitment to distributing benefits directly to target areas.
Regarding the governance of social funds, Chairman of UPZDK Permata Bank Syariah, Awaludin Gumbira, emphasised the importance of applying comprehensive managerial accountability principles. He assured that every public funding instrument is monitored measurably through an internal audit system to guarantee transparency and sharia compliance standards.
This managerial approach is applied consistently to maintain the integrity of humanitarian fund distribution so that it reaches verified beneficiary lists accurately.
From the perspective of developing the sharia business ecosystem, Permata Bank Syariah considers cross-institutional involvement crucial in responding to emergency disaster conditions.
The strategic partnership between institutions is deemed capable of increasing the effectiveness of post-disaster regional stability recovery programmes in vulnerable areas. As the implementing partner on the ground, President Director of DT Peduli, Jajang Nurjaman, expressed his organisation’s readiness to execute the construction phases precisely.
“We are fully responsible for overseeing the entire physical construction process of the permanent housing in Bireuen to ensure it meets post-disaster housing eligibility standards,” Jajang said.
He affirmed that technical operations in the field will be strictly monitored to ensure project completion according to the agreed timeline.
Managerial integration between sharia financial institutions and zakat collection agencies has proven to be a crucial scheme in accelerating post-natural disaster recovery.
The construction of eight housing units in the Bireuen area is expected to serve as a direct stimulus for the revival of the local economy. These building facilities will be handed over to registered families once all technical completion stages are declared comprehensively finished.
