Possibility Emerges of More Than Four Perpetrators in Acid Attack on KontraS Activist

Police have revealed the suspected perpetrators in the acid attack case against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus. Authorities state that the assault on Andrie potentially involves more than four individuals.

Metro Jaya Regional Police have announced two known perpetrators who served as the executors in the acid splashing against Andrie. The two suspects bear the initials BHC and MAK.

“At present, we suspect that we can inform you that the two individuals we presented earlier from the Police data are one with initial BHC, and the second with initial MAK,” said Dirreskrimum of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Police displayed their actual faces to the public. The faces of the two suspected executors, captured on CCTV, were clearly visible.

“This is the executing perpetrator that we circled in red, rotating direction and then passing by waiting. Now, the one in green is the victim at the moment the liquid was thrown. The one in yellow is the second motorcycle ridden by the suspect as well, the network of the perpetrators, the perpetrator’s group,” he said while showing the CCTV footage.

Police Continue Investigation

Imanuddin stated that his side is still analysing scientific crime investigation evidence to thoroughly investigate the case. “We are also analysing other scientific evidence to support the disclosure process of the aforementioned case,” he said.

Police suspect a total of more than four perpetrators involved in the acid splashing action.

“However, from our investigation results, we do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators could be suspected to be more than four,” said Iman.

Iman stated that his side has opened a complaint service at hotline 110 and 081285599191 related to this case. He urged the public who know information about the perpetrators to contact the hotlines.

“On this occasion, we also convey to fellow media regarding the service we have opened, the complaint service at hotline 110 and number 081285599191; we have opened this service to the public to provide or convey information from those who know or recognise the images of the perpetrators we presented earlier, which can strengthen our statements,” he said.

TNI Reveals Four Soldiers Involved

TNI’s Puspom has revealed that its internal investigation uncovered four BAIS TNI soldiers as suspected perpetrators. The four suspects bear initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. These initials differ from those revealed by Metro Jaya Police.

TNI’s Danpuspom, Mayor Jenderal TNI Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four suspected perpetrators are all members of Denma BAIS TNI, not from any specific unit but from Denma BAIS TNI.

“We state that the four suspected perpetrators are all members of Denma BAIS TNI, not from any unit but from Denma BAIS TNI,” said Mayjen Yusri during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

When asked further, Yusri stated that the four perpetrators are from the naval (AL) and air force (AU) branches. “From AL and AU,” he added in response to the question.

Furthermore, Yusri also conveyed that three of the four suspects hold officer ranks. The highest, he continued, is at the rank of captain.

“So Captain NDB, Lettu SL, Lettu BHW, Serda ES. During the investigation, we will work as maximally as possible with the hope that we can carry it out as quickly as possible professionally,” he said.

He stated that the suspects are currently secured. They are also still being further interrogated by Puspom TNI.
