Poso political party nominates outsiders

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Prosperous Peace Party (PDS) Poso branch has proposed former Central Maluku regent Adolf Ruka as one of its candidates for Poso regent for the 2005-2010 term.

Besides nominating Adolf Ruka, the Christian-based party also nominated Piet Inkiriwang, a councillor at South Minahasa regental council in North Sulawesi, Edi Bungkudapu, the secretary of the Central Sulawesi Legislative Council and Yahya Pattiro, the former secretary of the Poso regental administration.

All four names have been submitted to the PDS central board in Jakarta for approval, said Karel Megati, the chairman of party's chapter in Central Sulawesi.

Karel said that Adolf and Inkiriwang, were nominated as PDS supporters in Poso were convinced that they were capable of leading Poso. -- JP
