Jakarta, as the national mobility hub, continues to demonstrate high dynamism in the use of public transportation. The resurgence of societal activities in various sectors has also driven passenger movement in several major transportation modes.

This is reflected in the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta, which records an increase in the number of users of MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta in March 2026 on a year-on-year basis.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reports that the number of passengers on MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta experienced a year-on-year increase in March 2026. This rise indicates a positive trend in the recovery and enhancement of societal mobility in the capital, although there are still monthly fluctuations in some transportation modes.

The Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, stated that two major transportation modes, namely MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta, show positive growth compared to the same period in the previous year. He emphasised that this condition serves as an indicator of increasing public trust in public transportation.

“In March 2026, the MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta transportation modes grew positively on a year-on-year basis,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Monday, 4 May 2026.

For MRT Jakarta, the number of passengers in March 2026 was recorded at 3.49 million people. This figure shows an increase of 9.03% year-on-year. However, compared to February 2026, the number experienced a decline of 3.45%.

From an operational perspective, the number of MRT Jakarta trips in the same period reached 7,911 trips, increasing 9.73% month-on-month, but decreasing 1.89% compared to March 2025.

Meanwhile, LRT Jakarta recorded fairly significant performance. The number of passengers in March 2026 reached 114,670 people, increasing 27.10% year-on-year and rising 11.05% month-on-month. This growth indicates an increase in public interest in LRT services, particularly as an alternative daily transportation in certain areas of Jakarta.

From the LRT operational side, BPS recorded that the number of trips reached 6,324 trips in March 2026. Kadarmanto also added details regarding the operational performance of LRT in the report.

“Meanwhile, the number of LRT Jakarta trips reached 6,324 trips, increasing 10.71% month-on-month and showing no change compared to March 2025,” said Kadarmanto.
