Positive Impacts of Cimahi Underpass Project Promised by Governor Dedi Mulyadi
Cimahi City is set to welcome a new underpass, which will be constructed by the West Java Provincial Government this year. The project, promised by West Java Governor Dedi Muly/adi, will be located on Jalan Gatot Subroto-Baros with a value of Rp150 billion and is currently in the tendering stage.
The Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs at the Cimahi City Regional Secretariat, Achmad Nuryana, stated that the Cimahi City Government welcomes the plan for the construction to be realised in the near future. He noted that the presence of the underpass will have a positive impact on both traffic flow and the economy.
“Firstly, regarding traffic, it will certainly result in smoother flow, as it will no longer be disrupted by railway activities. Furthermore, in terms of economic movement, distribution will become more efficient,” said Achmad when confirmed on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
Jalan Gatot Subroto currently features a railway crossing that causes traffic volumes in the area to become increasingly congested due to the rising frequency of train journeys, particularly the Feeder Train. Additionally, a primary goal is to reduce the risk of accidents caused by the high intensity of train movements.
“Train traffic is increasing now with the presence of the feeder service. With the underpass, travel time and costs will become more efficient, and most importantly, the risk of accidents will be reduced,” added Achmad.
According to information gathered from the West Java Provincial LPSE tender website, the ceiling price for the underpass construction package on Jalan Gatot Subroto reaches Rp150,000,000,000, while the estimated price (HPS) for the package is approximately Rp130,131,435,741.19.
“From the information we have received, the tender has indeed been launched, and looking at the schedule, the contract signing should take place by 21 July,” said the Head of the Cimahi City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department, Wilman Sugiansyah.
