The city of Cimahi will soon have a new underpass to be built by the West Java Provincial Government this year. The project, promised by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, is planned for Jalan Gatot Subroto-Baros with a budget of Rp150 billion and is currently in the tender stage. Achmad Nuryana, Regional Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs at the Cimahi City Secretariat, stated that the city administration welcomes the plan, which is expected to be realised in the near future. The underpass will have a positive impact on both traffic and the economy. ‘Firstly, traffic will certainly flow more smoothly, without being disrupted by train activity. Then, in terms of the economy, distribution will become more efficient,’ Achmad said on Tuesday (9/6/2026). Jalan Gatot Subroto features a railway crossing where traffic volume has become increasingly congested due to a rise in train journeys, particularly the Feeder train service. A key benefit is the reduction of accident risk caused by the intensity of train movements with the feeder service. ‘Train traffic is increasing now with the feeder service. With the underpass, travel time and costs will certainly be more efficient, and most importantly, it reduces the risk of accidents,’ Achmad said. Information gathered from the West Java Province LPSE tender website shows the ceiling value for the underpass package on Jalan Gatot Subroto reaches Rp150 billion, while the self-estimated price (HPS) is Rp130,131,435,741.19. Wilman Sugiansyah, Head of the Cimahi City Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, said, ‘From the information we have received, the project has been tendered, and looking at the schedule, the contract should be signed on 21 July.’
