Positive Automotive Trend Fuels Gaikindo's Optimism for GIIAS 2026

Wholesale car sales in Indonesia, from factories to dealers, showed a positive trend from January to June 2026. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) recorded 436,562 units shipped from factories to dealers, a 15.8% increase compared to the previous period.

This achievement serves as a key foundation for Gaikindo’s confidence in organising the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, scheduled to take place from 30 July to 9 August at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency.

“All these positive achievements give us the confidence to hold the largest automotive exhibition after China,” said Gaikindo Chairman Putu Juli Ardika during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (13/7/2026).

Positive results were also recorded in the export performance of vehicles from Indonesia. Sales of vehicles destined for overseas consumers reached 251,705 units, a 7.7% increase compared to the 233,648 units recorded in the same period in 2025.

These strong domestic and international performances position the GIIAS exhibition as a prime venue for automotive manufacturers to showcase their latest vehicles, technologies, and features to domestic consumers. “We are confident that the GIIAS event can further encourage the growth and development of the automotive industry in Indonesia,” Putu stated.

This year’s GIIAS will feature a record number of participants, with over 65 brands spanning passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and coachbuilders. This is the highest number of participating brands in the event’s history. The figure does not yet include hundreds of supporting industry brands that will also enliven the exhibition, filling a total of 11 exhibition areas at ICE BSD City, Tangerang.
