PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) has provided an explanation regarding its failure to pay the sixth instalment of fees for the continuous ijarah sukuk I Pos Indonesia Phase I 2024 Series A-C. The company explained that the fee payment for the sukuk was scheduled for 7 July 2026.

The total obligation that PT Pos Indonesia had to pay amounted to Rp24.12 billion. However, by the specified deadline, PT Pos Indonesia was unable to fulfil the payment obligation.

“The reason PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) could not fulfil the payment obligation for the sukuk fees is that the company’s current cash position does not allow the payment to be made,” Pos Indonesia’s management stated in a disclosure, quoted on Sunday (19/7/2026).

Pos Indonesia has also sent a letter to Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) requesting a deferral of the payment of the ijarah sukuk fees.

Prior to the default, Pos Indonesia was undergoing changes to its management structure. As previously reported, Pos Indonesia announced that Chief Executive Daud Joseph had submitted his resignation from his post on Thursday (2/7/2026). Pos Indonesia Corporate Secretary Iwan Gunawan said the resignation was purely due to the personal wishes and considerations of the individual concerned.

“PT Pos Indonesia respects this decision and expresses its highest appreciation and gratitude for the dedication, service, and contribution given during his leadership of the company,” Iwan said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7/2026).

Iwan continued that Pos Indonesia would ensure the leadership transition process is carried out in accordance with applicable governance. During the process, he said, Pos Indonesia guarantees that the company’s operational activities continue and do not disrupt services to all stakeholders.

Iwan said Pos Indonesia, which is part of Danantara, remains committed to carrying out the mandate of its Shareholders in providing the best service to the public. He affirmed Pos Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen the company’s performance and to continue the strategic work programmes currently under way.

“Pos Indonesia affirms that operations are currently running smoothly and well. All transformation programmes and the company’s strategic agendas continue according to the company’s plans,” said Iwan.
