Portuguese traditional art exhibited

JAKARTA: The Textile Museum in Jakarta will stage the Portuguese Traditional Art Exhibition from May 2 to July 9. The exhibition is being held in cooperation with the Fundacao Calouste Gulbelkian and the Portuguese Embassy in Jakarta.

About 220 pieces of art, from the collection of the Musseu de Arte Popular in Lisbon, will be displayed at the exhibition, Beritajakarta.com reported.

The pieces to be displayed include traditional costumes and jewelry from the northwest coast of Portugal.

The exhibition will also feature items used in daily life, including carpets from Arraiolos.

In addition to the exhibition, the museum will also hold a discussion on Portuguese traditional arts in June. -- JP
