Portuguese Embassy Appreciates Fulfilment of Rights for Two Nationals in Tangerang Prison
The Consul from the Portuguese Embassy visited the Class I Tangerang Penitentiary. The Deputy Head of Mission and Head Consul of the Portuguese Embassy, Luis Filipe Baptista da Cunha, came to meet two Portuguese nationals serving their sentences.
The visit took place on Thursday (26/3). Luis spoke directly with his two compatriots, who are inmates with the initials RPAV and FMGDS.
During the meeting, Luis inquired about the health conditions, psychological state, and development of inmates RPAV and FMGDS during their rehabilitation period. Luis also appreciated the cooperative attitude of the Class I Tangerang Penitentiary towards the two inmates.
“We appreciate the good cooperation that has been established. Open communication helps us monitor the condition of our citizens. We also see that all inmates, especially those from Portugal, are treated equally without discrimination, with the fulfilment of equal rights for all,” said Luis.
On a different occasion, the Head of the Class I Tangerang Penitentiary, Beni Hidayat, emphasised his side’s commitment in serving inmates. He stressed the principle of equal treatment.
“Consular access is an important part of fulfilling the rights of foreign inmates. We ensure that every process runs professionally, transparently, and still prioritises security in the penitentiary environment,” explained Beni in his statement.
“We want every inmate to still feel cared for and accompanied. Rehabilitation does not only focus on rules, but also on how they serve their sentence better and have readiness when returning to society,” added the Head of Rehabilitation at the Class I Tangerang Penitentiary, Dwi Fu’ad Jamali.
Equal and humane services are principles emphasised by the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto, to his subordinates. It is known that Minister Agus has launched the PRIMA slogan, an acronym for professional, responsive, integrity, modern, and accountable.
“The PRIMA values are not just a slogan, but must become the DNA of the organisation, becoming the character of every immigration and correctional personnel in carrying out state duties,” said Minister Agus during the thanksgiving event for the 1st Service Day at the Class IIA Narcotics Penitentiary, Cipinang, East Jakarta.
