Portrait of the Wrecked Taxi that Triggered the Fatal Bekasi Train Collision

A Green SM taxi is suspected of triggering the train accident (KA) involving a long-distance train and a commuter rail (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City. The taxi sustained severe damage. According to detikNews on Tuesday (28/4/2026), the wreckage of the turquoise green taxi with code CT11271 was located at the edge of the tracks near Bekasi Timur Station. The front left door was dented. The side mirror appeared to be hanging with most of the glass broken. The front windscreen had a small cracked section. Regarding the train accident, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has opened the possibility of evaluating the operations of Green SM taxis. “Every time an accident occurs, we will conduct an evaluation so that we can learn from what happened and improve in the future,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi during a press conference at Bekasi Station on Tuesday (28/4/2026). At that time, Dudy was responding to questions about whether there would be an evaluation of Green SM taxis. Kemenhub will also evaluate the need for double-double tracks at Bekasi Timur Station. It is known that currently, long-distance KA and KRL use the same track at Bekasi Timur Station. “Of course, as part of our evaluation, the double-double track is included, as well as electrification,” said Dudy when responding to questions about the urgency of double-double tracks at Bekasi Timur Station. Previously reported, the accident that occurred on Monday (27/4) night resulted in 14 people dead and 84 injured. The collision happened when the KRL that was hit was stopped because another KRL was blocked by the taxi at the crossing at Bekasi Timur Station. The hard collision caused the women’s carriage at the rear to be torn through by the Argo Bromo train. The evacuation process for the train accident victims has been completed. All evacuated victims were female. “100 percent of the evacuated (victims) are women,” said Head of Basarnas Major General TNI M Syafii. Syafii explained that the evacuation process was completed at 08.00 WIB earlier. All SAR teams have also been withdrawn. If any body parts of victims are found during the cleanup of the train wreckage, procedures will be followed.
