Nanchang (ANTARA) — Eggshell porcelain is renowned for its exceptionally thin porcelain body, paper-like in quality and translucent to light.

Its production involves more than 40 stages of extremely meticulous hand-crafting. In Jingdezhen, dubbed China’s “porcelain capital”, a craftsman named Lu Jiande (66) has dedicated more than four decades to mastering this precision-demanding craft.

Since beginning to study it in 1980, Lu has continuously refined his techniques. Through his dedication, the success rate of his work has increased from merely 1 per cent to between 30 and 40 per cent at present.

His expertise has also earned him international recognition. Lu has successfully set multiple Guinness World Records for eggshell porcelain bowls with the “largest diameter”, and his works are now exhibited in numerous museums throughout China and various parts of the world.
