Porters at Pasar Senen Station Earn Up to Rp 500,000 During Eid Momentum

Porters operating at Pasar Senen Major Station in Central Jakarta are feeling the income surge during the mudik flow, return flow, and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE holiday period. One porter named Said (55) stated that during the Lebaran holiday period, his daily income can even reach up to Rp 500,000. “During Lebaran like this, it’s definitely busy, it’s the moment,” said Said, quoted from Antara, Saturday, 28 March 2026. He mentioned that there are around 200 porters at Pasar Senen Station who work every day, with a morning and afternoon shift system. For the morning shift, there are 100 porters, who work from 07:00 to 19:00 WIB. Then, for the second shift, they work from 19:00 back to 07:00 in the morning. “The station here operates 24 hours, so the duty system is 12 hours. I’m on the morning shift today, then at seven in the evening I’ll go home,” he said. On normal days, a porter can earn a maximum of Rp 200,000 in one day. However, during the Lebaran moment, that income can increase by up to 50 percent. The porter tariff for one time helping to carry goods varies if ordered without an app system. Meanwhile, for the app system, a minimum fee of Rp 38,000 is charged. According to another porter officer, for orders outside the app, the cost can be negotiated directly with the porter. “You can order through the app or directly. If ordering directly, the transaction is according to the agreed tariff,” he said.
