Port policeman dies in traffic accident

JAKARTA: Tanjung Priok Port Police detective Brig. Sahrun, 39, was killed in a hit-and-run on Monday afternoon along Jl. Raya Cakung-Cilincing in North Jakarta.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said Sahrun died from severe head injuries sustained when a trailer truck rammed into his motorcycle.

Witnesses said the driver of the truck, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle.

The truck driver fled the scene and is wanted by the police. -- Antara
