Pornographic VCDs seized in C. Java

BANYUMAS, Central Java: Local police confiscated 3,500 pornographic video compact discs (VCDs) in two separate raids in Purbalingga and Banyumas on Tuesday and Wednesday, Banyumas Police chief Col. Carel Risa Kotta said.

"Besides VCDs, we also seized at least 65,000 firecracker wrappers, 78 kilograms of gunpowder and 30,000 ready-to-sell fireworks from those two areas," he said here on Wednesday.

Police also launched raids on fireworks vendors selling their goods in markets.

"The size (of the fireworks) being sold vary from as big as a beer bottle to smaller ones," he said. (45/edt)
