I recently visited a friend who lives in Depok and noticed
that many people in the area live in modest houses. But I was
surprised to see a cinema building where profane posters were
displayed with striking film titles that could influence the
children living nearby.

My concern is that such films can have a negative influence on
moviegoers. It is quite likely that violence prevailing in our
society is attributed to films of that sort.

The authorities should not hesitate to ban such film posters
and stop the screening of immoral films. The ulemas should also
play an important role in safeguarding society's morals.

I also appeal to cinema managers to refrain from showing films
that can influence and undermine people's morals.
