Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Federation of Equestrian Sports of Indonesia (FN Pordasi) will intensify outreach and competitions to develop an inclusive and sustainable equestrian ecosystem across four national federations: FN Pordasi Pacu, FN Pordasi Equestrian, FN Pordasi Polo, and FN Pordasi Berkuda Menanah.

Within FN Pordasi Berkuda Menanah, the federation is attempting to transform through a sporting approach that combines tradition and cultural heritage with performance development. “Horseback archery is a unique sporting discipline that unites historical value and performance development in a single entity. In Indonesia, horseback archery has experienced significant growth, with 17 provinces now as members, and this number may increase,” stated Secretary General of FN Pordasi Berkuda Menanah Luthfi Syaifullah Zubir in an official statement received in Jakarta on Monday.

Additionally, FN Pordasi Berkuda Menanah is establishing standards for ideal horses by promoting the use of local horses in all competitions. Upcoming tournaments scheduled for 2026 include the Santri Indonesia League Series 1 on 3-5 April in Central Java, the Third National Pordasi Berkuda Menanah Championship on 12-14 June in Jakarta and West Java, Santri Indonesia League Series 2 on 7-9 August in Bali, the Asian Horseback Archery Championship in October, and Santri Indonesia League Series 3 on 4-6 December in Banten.

FN Pordasi Equestrian will focus on strengthening coaching systems and organisational professionalism to enhance athlete competitiveness at both national and international levels. Currently, Equestrian has approximately 13 active Provincial Boards implementing development programmes. “In this sport, both humans and horses are athletes. Therefore, both must be prepared to the fullest through intensive and continuous training,” stated Chairman of FN Pordasi Equestrian Dewi Larasati.

FN Pordasi Polo Indonesia is committed to developing polo as a discipline focused not only on performance but also on building a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing athlete development, strengthening local horse quality, developing supporting industries, and integration with the tourism sector. Following its organisational restructuring since the 14th National Congress (13-15 November 2024), Pordasi is focused on building a mutually sustainable ecosystem through four national federations overseeing each equestrian discipline.
