Population growth
Population growth
Although President Soeharto is reportedly not going to attend
the World Conference on Population scheduled for early September,
1994 in Cairo, Indonesia will surely be represented in the forum
and hopefully become an important resource and will relate its
experience in curbing population growth. Indonesia has been very
successful in this area in spite of the fact that Indonesian is
third largest in terms of population in the world.
One of the factors that causes poverty is rapid population
growth. That's why, the effort to curb world population through
family planning programs is essential. Indonesia has a moral
obligation to share its experience with other countries. The
problems of unemployment, health, education and many other social
issues can be closely linked with population growth. So, due
attention is needed to overcome the problem.
