Popeye's ties up with Popindo

JAKARTA (JP): The New York-based fastfood chain Popeye's has expanded into Indonesia's fast growing restaurant market in cooperation with local restaurant operator PT Popindo Selera Prima.

The company's local partner said on Wednesday that the first Indonesian outlet was opened on Jalan Agus Salim, Jakarta on Monday.

The global restaurant chain, which booked total sales of about US$1 billion last year, will open four more outlets in the capital next month and another five in Bandung, West Java.

As part of the cooperation agreement signed with Popeye's International, Popindo should open at least 56 Popeye's outlets in five years. (hen)
