Pope Leo XIV Urges Distinction Between Human Art and AI Creations
Algorithms lack the human touch…
London (ANTARA) - Pope Leo XIV has called for the distinction between human-made art and the results of machine production in the current era of artificial intelligence (AI) to become a matter of great urgency.
“In this era of artificial intelligence, distinguishing human art from the results of machine work has now become very urgent,” wrote Pope Leo XIV on the X platform, Friday (2/10).
He highlighted the ontological difference between art and machine-made results through statistical calculations based on millions of images created by others.
A series of recent incidents, where artificial intelligence has exceeded boundaries considered possible by many, combined with warnings from experts in the field of artificial intelligence, have triggered calls for technological development to be slowed down and more strictly regulated.
Last September, Pope Leo X also stated that artificial intelligence must uphold human dignity, strengthen peace, and be based on wisdom and care for others.
