Pope Leo calls for diplomatic space in Ukraine conflict

Pope Leo XIV on Sunday called for diplomacy to be given room in the Ukraine conflict and stressed the importance of respecting international law. “War only breeds more war and causes immense suffering. It is time to stop the cycle of violence and open space for diplomacy and dialogue to pave the way for peace,” the Pope said, as quoted by Vatican News. The Pope also expressed support for the families of the victims and those injured in the Ukraine conflict. “I am with the families of the victims, the wounded, and all those suffering from this ongoing conflict,” Pope Leo said. On Friday, a Ukrainian drone attacked a civilian bus in Donetsk, injuring one person. The drone struck the engine section, causing damage to the bus. A day earlier, a Ukrainian UAV attacked a bus as passengers were alighting at a stop in the village of Dolyna, Tokmak Municipal District, Zaporozhye Region. Six people, including four men and two women, were reported injured.
