Pope Hears Trump is Seeking 'Way Out' to End War with Iran

Pope Leo XIV claims to have been informed that US President Donald Trump is attempting to end the war with Iran. He stated that Trump is seeking a ‘way out’ to conclude the war raging in the Middle East.

“I have been told that President Trump recently stated that he wants to end the war; hopefully, he is seeking a way out, hopefully, he is looking for ways to reduce the amount of violence and bombings,” the Pope said to reporters as he left his residence in Castel Gandolfo, outside Rome, en route to the Vatican, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

This, according to the Pope, “would be a significant contribution to eliminating the hatred that is being created and continues to increase in the Middle East and elsewhere.”

“I will certainly continue to call on all world leaders to say ‘Return to the negotiating table to dialogue, let us seek solutions to the problems’,” said the 70-year-old American Pope.

Pope Leo then alluded to the Easter period that Christians will observe this weekend. According to him, this is the appropriate time.

“It should be the holiest and most sacred time of the year. This is a time of peace, a time for deep reflection,” Leo stated.

“But as we all know, once again in the world, in many places we see so much suffering, so much death, even innocent children. We continuously call for peace, but unfortunately many people want to promote hatred, violence, and war,” he continued.
