Pontjo Sutowo Given One Month to Vacate Hotel Sultan
PT Indobuildco, the company owned by Pontjo Sutowo, which manages the Hotel Sultan in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, has been given almost a month to vacate the property. The Hotel Sultan is set to be executed on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The execution is based on a ruling by the Central Jakarta District Court regarding the eviction of Block 15 in GBK, formerly the Hotel Sultan. Kharis Sucipto, legal counsel for the State Secretary and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), stated that the court’s deadline is sufficient for PT Indobuildco to vacate Block 15 GBK voluntarily. Meanwhile, PPKGBK, as the new manager, also has time to prepare for the orderly, safe, and public-interest-unaffected transfer of management. “With almost a month’s grace period, we hope Indobuildco will voluntarily vacate the property. The court’s letter also urges occupants or anyone who has rights from Indobuildco to occupy, reside in, or use the land and building to vacate voluntarily. This is crucial to prevent new issues during the execution,” Kharis said in a statement on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. He emphasised that the execution date marks the end of a lengthy legal process concerning the salvage of state assets in Block 15 GBK. “The legal process for safeguarding state assets has reached its conclusion. The state has exhausted all legal avenues, the court has issued its ruling, and now only execution remains. Therefore, there are no further legal grounds to delay the return of this state asset,” he added. PPKGBK Director Rakhmadi A. Kusumo stated his institution respects the execution date. He said the return of Block 15 GBK is a crucial moment to ensure state assets are managed professionally, transparently, and for the nation’s benefit. Hamdan Zoelva, legal counsel for PT Indobuildco and former Constitutional Court Chief Justice, affirmed his company would pursue further legal action regarding the Hotel Sultan dispute in Central Jakarta. According to the former MK Chief, the legal process for the case is not yet complete despite the Central Jakarta District Court’s execution order. PT Indobuildco is still filing appeals and cassation. “PT Indobuildco respects the court and ongoing legal processes. However, the Hotel Sultan execution should not be forced. Any execution plan must strictly comply with the law and not disregard legitimate rights, workers’ rights, tenants, and other affected parties,” Hamdan said on Friday, 7 August 2026.
