Pontianak takes night flights

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Supadio Airport is presently being
prepared to take night flights in anticipation of the passenger
rush during the Idul Fitri holidays.

Head of the provincial transportation office Budiman was
quoted by Antara as saying that he estimated the increase of
passengers this year to be 10-15 percent during the "rush
period", which starts on Feb. 24 and ends on March 11.

Merpati flights will shuttle passengers between Jakarta and
Pontianak six times a day, Bouraq flights twice a day and Sempati
flights once a day, using a variety of aircraft.

DAS and Deraya flights will serve the Pontianak-Ketapang,
Pontianak-Ketapang-Pangkalan Bun and the Pontianak-Puttusibau air
routes.

Budiman said that 1,906 buses and other land vehicles, as well
as a number of passenger ferries and ships, have also been
prepared for the holidays.(pwn)
