PONTIANAK - To foster a sense of security and maintain order in the market environment, personnel from the BKPM Tanjung Pura Police Post under Pontianak Kota Police Station conducted dialogue patrols in the Pasar Tengah area on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.

The activity was carried out as an anticipatory measure against potential disturbances to public order, particularly thuggery and illegal levies. The patrol represents a tangible form of police presence among the community and serves as a means of building direct communication with residents, traders and market visitors.

Using a humanistic approach, officers issued appeals for the public to participate in creating a safe environment free from criminal activity.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant, not hesitate to report any acts of thuggery, and to avoid practices that harm others such as illegal levies,” said one of the BKPM Tanjung Pura personnel, First Police Officer Kurniawan, whilst engaging in dialogue with traders.

In addition to issuing appeals, personnel also reminded the public to be cautious of pickpocketing and fraud, which frequently occur in market areas. The public was urged to safeguard their personal belongings and avoid carrying large sums of money when shopping.

Meanwhile, Pontianak Kota Police Station Chief AKP Denni Gumilar stated that patrol activities would continue to be conducted routinely to create a safe, comfortable and conducive atmosphere within the jurisdiction of Pontianak Kota Police Station, particularly in busy market areas.

“Through collaboration between the police and the community, it is hoped that Pasar Tengah and its surroundings will remain a safe and comfortable place for activities, free from the troubling practice of thuggery,” the Police Station Chief expressed.
