Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko Set to Stand Trial Soon in Bribery and Gratification Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has completed the investigation into the case of alleged bribery and gratification involving the Ponorogo Regent, Sugiri Sancoko, who is currently suspended. Sugiri is set to stand trial.
‘The investigation dossier in the case of alleged acts of corruption related to bribery in relation to appointments, bribery in respect of projects, and other forms of acceptance or gratification within the Ponorogo Regency has been declared complete,’ KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Friday (6 February 2026).
Sugiri has been implicated alongside Ponorogo’s Secretary to the Regional Government, Agus Pramono; and the Director of Ponorogo’s Regional General Hospital (RSUD Harjono), Yunus Mahatma. Prosecutors will subsequently draft the charges.
‘The public prosecutors thereafter have a maximum period of 14 working days to prepare the indictment file and register it for trial at the District Court,’ he said.
For information, there are three clusters of alleged corruption that implicate Sugiri. The first cluster concerns alleged bribery in relation to the appointment of the Director of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD Harjono Ponorogo). Asep noted that the total money paid to Sugiri amounted to Rp 900 million.
The second cluster, the KPK found there was alleged bribery connected to a works project at RSUD Harjono Ponorogo in 2024. The RSUD Ponorogo project is valued at Rp 14 billion. The total alleged bribes amount to Rp 1.4 billion.
The third cluster is alleged gratuity. The KPK suspects Sugiri received gratuity money worth Rp 300 million in the period 2023-2025.
