Ponorogo accelerates development projects to boost 2026 budget absorption
Ponorogo, East Java - The Ponorogo Regency Government, East Java, is accelerating the realisation of development projects that were delayed in the previous fiscal year. This is an effort to increase the absorption of the 2026 Regional Budget (APBD), following a Budget Surplus (Silpa) of Rp96 billion in 2025.
The Acting Regent of Ponorogo, Lisdyarita, stated in Ponorogo on Wednesday that part of this surplus originated from several activities and projects that could not be realised because they required evaluation at the end of the fiscal year.
“There has indeed been an increase in Silpa compared to the previous year. This is because several activities and projects had to be re-evaluated, meaning the budget could not yet be realised,” she said.
According to Lisdyarita, the results of these evaluations will serve as material for improvement to ensure that the process from planning to programme implementation this year runs more effectively, so that the benefits of development can be immediately felt by the community.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Ponorogo, Agus Sugiarto, said the local government is prioritising the acceleration of project implementation, particularly infrastructure development and other strategic activities, to improve the quality of budget absorption.
He explained that, in addition to being influenced by the evaluation of several activities, the amount of Silpa is also related to the non-implementation of several infrastructure projects as well as the realisation of Special Allocation Funds (DAK) and tobacco excise revenue sharing funds (DBHCHT).
“There were several infrastructure works that we could not carry out last year due to various considerations. Furthermore, the realisation of DAK and tobacco excise revenue sharing funds also influenced the size of the Silpa,” he said.
Nevertheless, Agus assessed that the performance of the APBD management is still considered good. Out of Ponorogo’s total APBD of approximately Rp2.4 trillion, regional expenditure realisation in 2025 has reached around 90 per cent.
The Ponorogo Regency Government aims to increase the APBD absorption level in 2026 to over 95 per cent through the acceleration of the procurement of goods and services and the implementation of development projects.
“This year, we will accelerate programme implementation. The hope is that the 2026 APBD absorption can exceed 95 per cent so that the available budget truly provides benefits to the community,” said Agus.
