Pondok Gede market inauguration delayed
BEKASI (JP): Bekasi Regent Moch. Djamhari has insisted on delaying the inauguration of the new Pondok Gede market for as long as its developer takes to finish repairing its sloppy work.
Head of Bekasi Market Authority Donnie Setiawan said the developer, PT Surya Bintang Mitra, is asked to repair its poor work on the laying of floor tiles and construction of parking lots.
Donnie said the regency has allowed the developer until this weekend to finish its repair work and the regent is scheduled to open the new facility soon.
The Pondok Gede market place was initially expected to be opened in August in conjunction with Bekasi's anniversary. Its inauguration, however, was delayed due to the discovery of the poor work.
Donnie also said that there has been another delay in the construction of the Cikarang Baru market place. The Rp 30.9 billion project was supposed to have been completed last June.
As a penalty the regency has fined the developer, PT Metrik El Cipta, Rp 120 million for the first-year's delay and Rp 60 million for every other six months.
He explained that there is no deadline as to when the market will be opened because its quality has to be checked first. (12/yns)
