PON scoops in Rp 7.35b fund
JAKARTA (JP): The 14th National Games Organizing Committee
hardly bat an eye when it raked in Rp 7.35 billion (US$3.3
million) on Wednesday night, surpassing the set target of Rp 7
billion.
The whopping amount was donated by two private companies, PT
Sida Karya and PT Baskara, during the launching of the Games'
fund raising program. Sida Karya, an advertising company, won the
broadcasting rights worth Rp 7 billion. Baskara, a dealer of
American-made computers, pledged the rest.
The fund raising program was organized by Citrahasta
Promotama, following a memorandum of understanding with the Games
organizing committee in March. Citrahasta expects to garner Rp
10.75 billion, and will have to share any surplus with the Games
organizing committee.
The Games will be held in September next year, costing the
committee Rp 23.5 billion. The figure is Rp 5 billion higher than
the total budget for the previous Games in 1993. (amd)
