Polytron Targets Sales of 40,000 Electric Motorcycles This Year
JAKARTA – National electronics manufacturer Polytron continues to strengthen its presence in the electric motorcycle market. Since first launching its product in 2021, the population of Polytron electric motorcycles in Indonesia has now approached 50,000 units. “Our population has sold around 50,000 units,” said Polytron Commercial Director Tekno Wibowo, when met in Jakarta recently. “This year our target is around 40,000 units. The increase is significant,” said Tekno. Looking at sales data, this target is not detached from Polytron’s performance throughout 2025. Based on data from the Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT) for Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles (KBLBB) released by the Ministry of Transportation, total national electric motorcycle sales in 2025 were recorded at 55,059 units. From that figure, Polytron is estimated to have contributed around 33,000 units. In other words, this brand controlled around 60 percent of the national electric motorcycle market share throughout last year. However, it should be noted that Aismoli does not release detailed sales data per brand, so industry players generally use SRUT data as a reference to read market conditions. On the other hand, the national electric motorcycle market trend has also shown fluctuations in recent years. Sales that initially were only 10,546 units in 2021 increased to 17,198 units in 2022, then surged to 62,409 units in 2023. This positive trend continued to reach a peak of 77,078 units in 2024, before finally correcting to 55,059 units in 2025 or down around 28.6 percent year-on-year.
