Indonesia’s national electronics producer Polytron has recorded competitive performance in the Indonesian electric vehicle market. Through its first electric car, Polytron posted sales figures that surpassed a number of global automotive brands from Japan, Korea, and Europe. Based on wholesale data from the Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia (Gaikindo), through 2025 Polytron distributed 455 units of electric cars to the dealer network. Meanwhile, 353 units were sold via retail channels. The achievement places Polytron above several international brands in wholesale distribution.

Entering 2026, Polytron recorded wholesale distribution of 82 units and retail sales of 12 units. Based on wholesale data, Polytron ranks 25th among the national best-selling cars. The position places it above a number of global brands such as DFSK, Citroen, BAIC, Lexus, Ford, Mini, Changan, Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen, and Audi. On the retail side, Polytron is in 39th place, just above Volvo, Changan, and Audi. The management of Polytron said the achievement shows domestic electric vehicle products are starting to receive positive responses from the domestic market. “Wholesale and retail data show Polytron electric cars are being accepted by consumers and can compete with global brands,” a Polytron management representative said in a written statement.

Currently Polytron markets a single electric car model available in two variants, namely G3 and G3+. The two variants are assembled at the production facility of PT Handal Indonesia Motor in Purwakarta, West Java. In January 2026, Polytron produced 154 units. The total production in 2025 reached 531 units.

In terms of specifications, Polytron’s electric car has a length of 4,720 mm, width 1,908 mm, height 1,696 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. The vehicle offers boot capacity of up to 1,141 litres and is equipped with an electronic tailgate with a kick sensor. For performance, both variants are equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery rated at 51.916 kWh delivering 150 kW of power and 320 Nm of torque. The car can travel up to 402 kilometres according to the CLTC standard, with a maximum speed of 150 km/h and 0–100 km/h acceleration in around 9.6 seconds. Polytron says it will continue to strengthen its distribution network and after-sales service to support the growth of national electric vehicles. (E-1)

Polytron’s electric car was officially launched in the Indonesian market with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) achievement of 40 percent. Polytron also offers added value through gifts and attractive activities for every unit purchase. The FOX 200 is pitched as an efficient choice for daily activities, from school runs to shopping and socialising. Users of FOX-350 can gain additional power in 10 minutes for 10 km, while FOX-200 users require 15 minutes for an additional 20 km. Polytron’s expansion into the EV industry proved more complex than initial calculations. After launching the FOX-R electric motor, Polytron is set to launch another electric motor designed to deliver a more comfortable and intuitive driving experience.
