Poltracking Survey on Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates: Prabowo and Gibran Lead
Poltracking Indonesia has also released the electability ratings of figures projected to enter the presidential and vice-presidential race. President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are at the top of the list.
The survey was conducted from 2-8 March 2025 with a total of 1,220 respondents spread across all provinces. The survey was carried out through face-to-face interviews.
The respondents were selected randomly using the multistage random sampling method. The survey’s margin of error is +/- 2.9 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
Poltracking’s Chief Researcher Masduri Amwari stated that this survey asked respondents spontaneously without providing names of figures. For presidential electability, Prabowo Subianto is at the top, followed by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, and former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
“Presidential electability from voter spontaneity when asked who the president you would choose is. The response of 32.9% is Prabowo Subianto. We asked directly without mentioning names, then Dedi Mulyadi 13.5%, followed by Anies Baswedan 4.2%,” said Masduri during a press conference on Poltracking’s YouTube channel on Monday (13/4/2026).
Several other figures were also mentioned by respondents, including Gibran Rakabuming, Ganjar Pranowo, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Mahfud MD. These names were mentioned by no more than 5% of respondents.
Nevertheless, Masduri cautioned that these figures represent an initial snapshot. He highlighted the still high number of undecided voters—those who have not yet made a choice.
“It is important to note that there are voters who have not yet decided at 28.8%. This is a consequence because the presidential election is still far away, but this is an initial portrait of potential names,” said Masduri.
For vice-presidential electability, Gibran Rakabuming is in the top position with 26.8%, followed by Dedi Mulyadi at 8.9% and Mahfud MD at 4.3%. Other names such as Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Anies Baswedan, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa are below 5%. Undecided voters for vice president are recorded at 38.8%.
“Vice-presidential electability was also asked spontaneously to voters about who the vice president you would choose without mentioning names. Vice President Gibran 26.8%. Then Dedi Mulyadi 8.9%, Mahfud MD 4.3%, below that other names below 5%. Although again, voters who responded ‘don’t know’ is important to note,” he said.
