The survey institution Poltracking Indonesia released the results of a national survey regarding political party electability on Wednesday (23/09/2026). In the survey, the electability of the Gerindra Party and PDIP experienced a decline compared to previous periods.

Poltracking Indonesia researcher, Yoki Alvetro, stated that in a ballot simulation of 18 political parties, the Gerindra Party obtained an electability of 23.2 per cent. Meanwhile, in second place, PDIP achieved 11.6 per cent electability, and in third place, the Golkar Party stood at 10.4 per cent. Following these were PKB at 6.2 per cent, Democratic Party at 6.1 per cent, NasDem Party at 4.4 per cent, PAN at 3.4 per cent, PKS at 3.3 per cent, PSI at 2.3 per cent, and PPP at 1.9 per cent.

“As for the other parties, they are below 1 per cent,” he said on Wednesday.

Although the Gerindra Party and PDIP hold the highest electability, both parties have experienced a decline. Gerindra’s electability dropped from 26.1 per cent in March 2026 to 23.2 per cent in August 2026, while PDIP fell from 15.4 per cent to 11.6 per cent.

Based on trends over the past year, Gerindra’s electability was recorded at 24.1 per cent in October 2025, then rose to 26.1 per cent in March 2026. Subsequently, the figure moved downwards to 25.9 per cent in May, 23.5 per cent in July, and 23.2 per cent in August 2026.

A downward trend was also visible for PDIP. The party’s electability stood at 15.7 per cent in October 2025, 15.4 per cent in March 2026, then fell to 14.4 per cent in May, 12.3 per cent in July, and 11.6 per cent in August 2026.

Poltracking noted that Gerindra, PDIP, and PKB tend to experience slight declines in electability trends. Conversely, Golkar and the Democratic Party were described as tending towards stability.

Golkar itself was at 9.5 per cent in October 2025 and 9 per cent in March 2026. Its electability then became 9.2 per cent in May, rose to 11.4 per cent in July, before standing at 10.4 per cent in August.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party stood at 6.1 per cent in the latest simulation. Poltracking placed the Democratic Party in the group of parties whose electability trends tend to be stable.

Yoki assessed that the results represent public perception based on the survey conducted in mid-August 2026. “Various possibilities regarding public perception are still potential, depending on the issues and strategic steps that will be taken by political parties,” he said.

Nevertheless, the survey shows that a large proportion of respondents have not yet decided on a choice. As many as 25.3 per cent of respondents did not answer or did not know when presented with the simulation of 18 political parties.

On the other hand, the closeness of the public to political parties remains relatively low. As many as 66.8 per cent of respondents stated they do not feel close to any particular political party, while only 12.3 per cent stated they feel close to one of the parties.

It is noted that the Poltracking Indonesia national survey was conducted from 14-20 August 2026 among ,1220 respondents across 38 provinces. Data collection was carried out face-to-face using a multi-stage random sampling method. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9 per cent at a 95 per cent confidence level.
