Poltekpel Barombong partners with Unhas to develop maritime campus
Makassar (ANTARA) - Politeknik Pelayaran (Poltekpel) Barombong, Makassar, has partnered with Hasanuddin University (Unhas) in preparing a Detailed Engineering Design (DED) as a blueprint for developing its maritime campus area.
Unhas Vice Chair for Community Service Prof Muhammad Arsyad said in a statement in Makassar on Tuesday that for Unhas, preparing the DED represents a space for higher education expertise to contribute to supporting vocational education infrastructure development, particularly in the maritime sector.
Research-based planning is expected to produce facility designs that are measurable, functional, and suited to the needs of Poltekpel Barombong.
“This trust is part of implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly through scholarly and expert contributions to support the development of the maritime sector,” Prof Arsyad explained.
He said the Unhas expert team would immediately prepare a design based on the integrated needs of the area. The planning scope includes campus buildings, offices, a hall, guesthouse, polyclinic, and supporting facilities such as a generator room.
“Unhas is preparing the DED document in detail to make it easier for Poltekpel to carry out construction. Mature planning is important to ensure that the facilities built truly meet needs and support the education process,” he said.
Poltekpel Barombong Director Capt. Sidrotul Muntaha M.Mar expressed hope that the DED preparation could be completed soon and used as a foundation for determining the direction of campus area development.
The document is expected to provide a strong planning basis for decision-making and development budgeting.
“Through this DED, we want to ensure that every campus development plan has a strong planning basis. The results of the joint study with Unhas will serve as a foundation for determining Poltekpel Barombong’s development priorities going forward,” Capt. Sidrotul Muntaha explained.
This collaboration is in line with Unhas’ commitment to supporting SDG 4 on quality education and SDG 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure through the use of academic expertise for sustainable development.
