Polri's International Relations Division Submits 'Red Notice' Against Ustadz SAM
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) is currently processing the submission of an Interpol Red Notice (RNI) against Ustadz SAM (Syekh Ahmad Al Misry), who was previously designated as a suspect in an alleged sexual harassment case.
“It is in the process of being submitted via the Interpol portal,” said the Head of the Transnational and International Crime Section (Kabagjatranin) of the Indonesian Interpol NCB, Divhubinter Polri, Commissioner Pol. Ricky Purnama, to the media in Jakarta on Friday.
He also revealed that SAM holds Indonesian citizenship (WNI) status through naturalisation.
“If the WNI status has been validated and approved, it is through the naturalisation route as a proposal for a mixed marriage with an Indonesian woman,” he said.
Currently, he continued, they are validating the suspect’s Egyptian citizenship status.
“We are also communicating with Egyptian authorities to validate his citizenship status,” he stated.
Previously, the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children Protection and Anti-Trafficking in Persons (PPA and PPO) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency designated Ustadz SAM (Syekh Ahmad Al Misry) as a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.
Further details regarding the suspect’s designation were not disclosed by the police.
It is known that Ustadz SAM was reported to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency in November 2025 for the alleged sexual harassment of five male students.
The victims’ legal representative, Achmad Cholidin, stated that the alleged acts by SAM caused severe trauma to the victims. Moreover, there were allegations of intimidation by SAM or his representatives to withdraw the case from the police, including attempts at bribery towards the victims.
“There were threats, even to victims in Egypt, not to pursue this case at all. There were also attempts to provide funds so that this would not continue, either by the suspect or his representatives,” he said.
Meanwhile, witness Ustadz Abi Makki stated that in 2021, SAM had allegedly harassed his students.
At that time, the victims, along with student teachers and religious figures, conducted a tabayyun (investigation), after which SAM issued an apology and promised not to engage in alleged same-sex sexual harassment again.
However, instead of repenting, in 2025, the teachers received confessions from students that SAM had repeated similar acts.
Ultimately, a report was filed with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency regarding the alleged harassment by SAM against his students.
On 2 April 2026, the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III held a closed meeting with the police, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and representatives from the victims’ families to discuss the case.
Following the meeting, the Director of PPA-PPO at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Pol. Nurul Azizah, stated that there were several crime scenes (TKP) in this case.
“So, several locations where it occurred include TKP in Purbalingga, Sukabumi, Jakarta, Bandung, and Egypt,” she said.
She also confirmed that SAM holds Indonesian citizenship status.
