Polri Transfers 321 Foreign Nationals Involved in Online Gambling to Several Immigration Offices
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has transferred 321 foreign nationals (WNA) secured in the uncovering of an international online gambling case in West Jakarta to several immigration offices to undergo further examinations.
Spokesperson for the Public Relations Division of Polri, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that the transfer is part of deepening the case and strengthening cross-agency coordination in handling the matter.
“Today, the transfer of 321 foreign nationals to several immigration examination locations for further processing has been carried out,” Trunoyudo said in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
He explained that 150 individuals were transferred to the Immigration Detention House (Rudenim), another 150 to the Central Immigration Directorate, and 21 to the West Jakarta Immigration Office.
According to him, this step is intended to accelerate the immigration administration examination process, identity verification, and tracing of the possible involvement of these foreign nationals in the international online gambling network operating in Indonesia.
“This process is still ongoing continuously and simultaneously, including coordination with immigration authorities for further examinations,” he said.
Previously, the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) uncovered an international online gambling operation in the West Jakarta area and secured hundreds of foreign nationals from various countries suspected of being involved in the online gambling operations.
The uncovering of this case is part of law enforcement’s efforts to strengthen the eradication of cross-border online gambling, which is deemed increasingly complex and utilises international networks as well as digital technology.
In addition to criminal proceedings, the police are also investigating potential violations of residence permits and misuse of immigration documents by the foreign nationals secured in the operation.
