JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chair of the Polri Reform Acceleration Commission, Jimly Asshiddiqie, revealed that the commission has completed its task of drafting recommendations on Polri reform following the August 2025 riots. He said he has requested time to meet with President Prabowo Subianto to report the commission’s work. ‘The State Secretary and Cabinet Secretary will arrange it, and we will try to do this before Eid al-Fitr, as he is currently very busy,’ Jimly said after meeting President Prabowo and Islamic scholars at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday night, 5 March 2026. ‘It is a serious matter of global issues and I understand that it demands considerable attention. Therefore we understand that the report of the Polri Reform Acceleration Commission could not be delivered yet. But it was promised to be before Eid al-Fitr,’ he added. Jimly explained that the commission’s recommendations are compiled in ten volumes that capture various public aspirations. He noted that some recommendations could be implemented through regulatory revisions. Earlier, Jimly had also stated that there are four main recommendation points to be reported to the President. Nevertheless, the Polri reform agenda covers various aspects and is planned to run until 2029. Jimly emphasised that the Polri reform roadmap would be implemented continuously by both the current Chief of Police and the next one. ‘In short, by 2029, when President Prabowo’s term ends, we hope to have completed it,’ said the former Chairman of the Constitutional Court.
