JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Polri has pledged that the handling of the defamation case involving the owner of the Bibi Kelinci restaurant, Nabilah O’Brien, will be conducted professionally with justice as a priority, in accordance with procedure and the applicable regulations.

Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian Police (Polri), said in Jakarta on Friday evening, 6 March 2026.

At present, the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) is still examining all complaints submitted by Nabilah.

According to him, the case handling process will continue to uphold the principle of justice and follow the applicable laws.

It is also known that initially there were two possible constructions of the event — either a report or mutual reporting.

He emphasised that developments in the handling of the case would be communicated to the public in due course.

Trunoyudo also responded to the request from the Bibi Kelinci restaurant for a special case review in the case. He said Polri will follow up on every complaint raised by those involved.

“In this regard, we reiterate Polri’s commitment to any complaint; we will conduct in-depth investigations and will of course follow up,” he added.

Nabilah’s legal counsel, Goldie Natasya Swarovski, described the designation of her client as a suspect as unusual because the process happened very quickly. She said two days before the designation letter was issued, her client was still undergoing questioning by investigators.

“My client was issued with the suspect designation letter on Saturday, 28 February 2026. This is unusual because it happened so quickly,” Goldie told reporters on Friday.

Goldie argued that the designation was inappropriate because her client’s social media post only contained CCTV footage showing the actual incident.
