Polri: No Place for Transnational Cybercrime in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Polri emphasises that there is no place in Indonesia for online gambling networks or transnational cybercrimes originating from abroad. “Polri is committed to enforcing the law firmly so that Indonesia is not used as a base for online gambling bookies or international scams,” said the Head of Public Relations and Media of the Polri Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday. Polri has demonstrated this commitment by eradicating online gambling practices, including those involving foreign nationals (WNA), following the exposure of an international online gambling network in West Jakarta, securing a total of 321 foreign nationals. “The eradication of online gambling is a joint concern because it is highly detrimental to society, both socially and economically,” he said. He emphasised that the exposure of the online gambling case involving hundreds of foreign nationals is part of the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita programme in handling digital and transnational crimes. “This is part of the ongoing and simultaneous law enforcement implementation carried out by Polri together with relevant stakeholders,” said Trunoyudo. Trunoyudo emphasised that the examination process and development against the perpetrators are still ongoing together with related agencies, including immigration authorities and other institutions.
