Polri Generates a 3.9-Million-Tonne Corn Surplus Through Community Synergy
Bekasi, VIVA – The success of the food security programme initiated by Polri has yielded impressive results. In 2025, Polri-assisted corn plots produced 3,975,934 tonnes from a land area of 661,122 hectares. This achievement was a key factor in Indonesia recording a national corn production surplus of 470,000 tonnes.
Wakapolri Komjen Dedi Prasetyo said that for 2026, Polri will strive to meet the remaining target for corn planting so that it reaches 1 million hectares. If this land-area target is achieved, the potential national corn production is projected to exceed 4 million tonnes.
The abundance of production is complemented by a robust absorption system by Bulog of 101,713 tonnes, which plays a vital role in stabilising prices. As we move into 2026, the previous year’s stock of 4.5 million tonnes provides a strong buffer to safeguard national food supplies throughout the year.
This surplus is the result of integrated agricultural management. The success is not possible without the active role of all stakeholders working toward a common vision under the coordination of the Polri Food Task Force (Satgas Pangan Polri) and other related agencies through multisector cooperation.
Dedi emphasised that the surplus did not arrive instantly but was the result of close monitoring and harmonious synergy across all levels. He described the achievement as a success shared by all elements of the nation.
With the recommencement of simultaneous planting across all regional police directorates (Polda) in the first quarter of this year, production targets are expected to continue rising. Polri is committed to sustaining this positive surplus trajectory to realise Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency on an ongoing basis.
