Polri Develops MEPE, Regulating Minimum Essential Equipment Standards for Police
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that Polri is currently preparing the Minimal Essential Police Equipment (MEPE) concept, or the minimum standard for police equipment that must be possessed to support members’ duties in the field.
“Soon, at the moment we are also preparing the MEPE, how this becomes our hope that we have standards related to Minimal Essential Police Equipment. So, the minimum standard equipment that we must have,” said Sigit while attending the Polri Logistics Coordination Meeting for the 2026 Fiscal Year at the Slog Polri Meeting Hall, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Sigit stated that the standard is being prepared so that all Polri personnel have adequate equipment support according to the characteristics of their assigned areas.
At the coordination meeting, Polri also introduced various new equipment for personnel, including personal protective gear for members tasked with facing potential riots and conflicts.
One of the demonstrated pieces of equipment was protective uniforms claimed to protect members from arrow attacks in conflict-prone areas.
The Chief of Police also inaugurated a laboratory to test the quality of Polri equipment, including uniforms.
In addition, Polri distributed around 430 operational vehicles, ranging from motorcycles, electric patrol cars, ambulances, to flood response vehicles.
According to Sigit, strengthening logistical support is part of efforts to improve the quality of Polri’s services to the public.
“Our hope is that everything prepared can certainly provide much better service to the public for the tasks carried out by the Polri institution,” he said.
