Polri confirms that the claim that meth evidence melted is a hoax

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) confirmed that the narrative claiming Polri clarified that 30 kilograms of methamphetamine evidence disappeared because it melted due to hot weather is a hoax. ‘This is hoax news,’ said the Head of Public Relations, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, in Jakarta on Wednesday. In a social media X account, there was a post with an image of Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo narrating: ‘Polri clarifies that the meth evidence disappeared, melted due to hot weather’. Alongside the image, a caption was posted: ‘Which area is hot? It rains and is cloudy every day. All you do is lie and never work.’ The post has since been deleted. Because of the hoax post, Johnny urged the public to collectively improve digital literacy and critical thinking by verifying every piece of information. He also called on the public to first consider whether the information they receive is true or not, beneficial or not, before sharing it with others. ‘Let us maintain a healthy, productive, and constructive digital space for the advancement of society, the nation, and the country,’ he said.
