Polri confirms case involving Nabilah O'Brien and Zendhy Kusuma ends in peaceful settlement
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, has assured that the case involving Nabilah O’Brien and Zendhy Kusuma ends peacefully after mediation by police at the Bareskrim building, Polri, in Jakarta, on Sunday. He stated that the mediation, which reunites the two parties in person, is part of Polri’s commitment to delivering justice for all involved. He stressed that the peace initiative is also grounded in self-reflection, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, which is associated with silaturahmi and forgiveness. “The forward projection from the mediation’s outcome is to provide a sense of justice that is whole for both parties and the wider public,” said Trunoyudo. He explained that previously there were two legal processes related to the two parties: the case reported at Mampang Police Sector, South Jakarta, and the report at Bareskrim Polri. In this regard, the Biro Pengawasan Penyidikan (Investigation Supervision Bureau) of Bareskrim Polri analysed the two reports to find common ground that would culminate in peace. He noted that the parties in dispute have agreed to pursue peaceful resolution as outlined in the peace agreement. As a follow-up to the agreement, each party has signed withdrawals of the police reports at the investigative unit handling their cases. Additionally, the parties agreed to remove content on their respective social media accounts in line with the agreed points. With the peace agreement and the withdrawal of all reports, he stated that the criminal process in the case is considered closed through the peace mechanism. The dispute originated from a married couple with initials ZK and ER who clashed with a restaurant owned by a woman with initials NO. After the dispute, ZK and ER reportedly took food home without paying. NO reported the incident to the police, and CCTV footage of the incident was also circulated on social media. On the other hand, ZK and ER felt aggrieved and subsequently reported NO’s actions as alleged defamation. Both cases were processed by the police, drawing attention from observers and even the Indonesian DPR RI Commission III.
