This was conveyed through a post by the Instagram account @sahabatpropam on Thursday (30/4/2026). The ban applies to all social media platforms without exception. “In order to maintain professionalism, discipline, and the image of the Polri institution, live streaming activities on social media in any form are prohibited while on duty hours,” stated the caption in the post, quoted on Monday (4/5/2024). Head of Polri’s Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, elaborated that the reason behind this policy is to ensure every Polri member remains focused on carrying out their primary duties to the public. Additionally, the policy aims to build collective awareness within the Polri environment to be more prudent in utilising digital technology. “Re-emphasising and reinforcing to Polri members to be prudent in utilising social media,” said Isir when confirmed. Members are expected to maintain the credibility and reputation of the institution responsibly, professionally, proportionately, and in accordance with procedures. “Every Polri member is obliged to uphold and implement Perpol Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Polri Code of Ethics Commission, as well as PP Number 2 of 2003 concerning Disciplinary Regulations for Polri Members,” explained Isir. Nevertheless, Polri continues to encourage the use of social media from a positive perspective to enhance unit performance. However, such activities must serve public relations functions and be under the coordination of Polri’s Public Relations function. “Furthermore, to build and increase collective awareness of the positive side of social media, thereby improving productivity/Polri performance through its units by utilising social media platforms for public relations purposes under the coordination of the Polri Public Relations function,” concluded Isir.
