Polri Appreciates Workers for Orderly Expression of Aspirations on May Day

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) appreciates the masses of workers who expressed their aspirations in an orderly manner during the 2026 International Labour Day (May Day) commemoration held in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, as well as in several other regions in Indonesia today. “Polri appreciates the worker masses who expressed their aspirations in an orderly manner during today’s International Labour Day commemoration. This demonstrates an orderly attitude in expressing opinions as well as a shared responsibility to maintain a safe and conducive situation,” said Polri’s Head of Public Relations Division, Inspector General of Police Johnny Eddizon Isir, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that Polri is present to escort the process of expressing aspirations while ensuring that all participants feel safe and comfortable. According to him, the peaceful implementation of the action shows an orderly attitude in expressing opinions and the establishment of a spirit of mutual respect between action participants and security apparatus in the field. “We see a good sense of mutual respect between personnel in the field and the worker brothers. Polri respects the public’s right to express opinions, and the action participants also contribute to maintaining order together,” he said. The two-star police general also emphasised that in securing May Day, a humane approach continues to be prioritised by all ranks of the Bhayangkara Corps so that the event can run smoothly without disturbing the broader public interest. The police, he continued, extend thanks to all worker elements, labour unions, and the public who have jointly maintained a peaceful atmosphere during the 2026 International Labour Day commemoration. On this Saturday, several May Day 2026 commemoration activities were held in various locations in Jakarta and several other regions. In Jakarta itself, worker masses filled Monas, Central Jakarta, and in front of the DPR RI Building, Central Jakarta, to voice their aspirations.
